Maycas are a producer based in the Limari Valley, one of the furthest north valleys in Chile, next to the Atacama desert. Fogs rolling in from the ocean cool the vineyards during the day to make the growing and ripening season very long. This makes the grapes, and therefore the wine, extremely fine and complex.
The ‘Sumaq’ Chardonnay is a delicious example of a softly oaked Chardonnay. It is clean and bright light yellow in colour. The aromas are mineral with nuances of white peaches and melon. The taste is soft and has a viscous structure, well accompanied by the freshness, give a long and persistent finish, with mineral nuances in the back palate. With 30% of the wine getting 6 months ageing in French oak, it has a soft vanilla & cedar flavour. Excellent.
